under the shade

I bought the lamp with its LED bulb on 20th January 2009 from Homebase on London Road, as recorded in this post. I didn’t pay the £3.20 for a 3-year guarantee. Seventeen years later, it’s still in good shape, though I had to fix it with a soldering iron once or twice. But it was too bright, I needed a shade to focus on bedside reading. So I made one, printed it on Coreldraw and it’s lasted until today, strengthened with cling film, and a bit tatty.

it was decorated with some lines from Thomas Traherne’s Centuries

It still worked fine but had got battered since 2009: held together by Sellotape and scruffy

I’ve stopped buying colour cartridges for the printer, so I use pastels instead. You can’t secure them with Sellotape/ The new one is secured with elastic bands. I reckon it’ll see me through the next decade

I remembered the pastels when a 6-year old called Myles came last Sunday and used them to paint pictures from imagination or memory. This is his version of Charizard, a Pokemon card.
