My favourite poem since discovering the Beat Poets, in 1950, when I went up to university and discovered they had an essay competition going on the topic of Beats and Squares, I never finished my attempt but did some research in a section of the Library stacks where you had to ask the librarian, and discovered Laurence Ferlinghetti.
