Desktop is dead. Long live the desktop!
My last piece featured Dark Star, a dirge, an orchestral lament for a (mostly) well-loved computer. Like a plaintive child, I cried at the unfairness of it all. “I want to play with my keyboard!” Ha, doing so now. Gathering dust in a corner were the component parts of Karleen’s old machine, fatally attacked by a fraudulent virus calling itself
I dare not mention their name, just in case.
The old one is impracticably slow. I had to install Windows 11 as version 10 no longer supported. It took so long I went to bed leaving it on. In order to see my bank statement in .pdf I had to download Adobe which was almost as bad. Couldn’t do anything at all till it finished.
Indeed, it continues slow, in all sorts of ways…
