The songs I like best in this album by singer-songwriter Nanci Griffith are “You Made This Love a Teardrop” and “It’s a Hard Life Wherever You Go”.
Each song is a dignified lament, as typified by the title “If Wishes Were Changes”. Most sentimental songs in the world of Pop are about “me”, my own joy and heartbreak. She never sinks to this level of egotism. Her lyrics are distilled from deep personal experience. They are stories, as demonstrated most poignantly by “It’s a Hard Life Wherever You Go“:
One of her most poignantly beautiful songs is “You Made This Love a Teardrop” in which Nanci is introduced by the late Terry Wogan, Britain’s much-loved broadcaster.
YouTube says
Nanci passed away yesterday 13 August 2021 – Nanci Griffith appears on Terry Wogan’s show.
Two much-loved celebrities, living forever in memory, video and sound.
I forgot to add the offer to send a spare copy of the Storms CD pesonally dedicatedto the first reader who’d asks for it, at price to cover costs.

I am a long time fan of Nanci Griffith, since 1997 when I saw her live in Washington…

I don’t suppose you remember any of the songs in her set? Storms came out in 1989

I loved Nanci’s work too. Not an expert but the albums Lone Star State of Mind and Little Love Affairs were my favourites. I must remember to learn something like Ponchartrain to add to my busking set.
